Murals and Public Art

I'm intrigued by creating art that is open to the public realm. It is very fulfilling to me to enhance a park, neighborhood or business with a piece of art, weather it be a large mural, sculpture, hand painted sign or whatever the project may be. I enjoy viewing the public works that I have done as if I am part of the general public and I have never seen the work before.

Murals

Mural Locations

Peak Ballet Murals

I did four murals for the peak Ballet Theater of four various city scenes. I did one of NYC, San Fran, Europe and an ally scene.

Pacific Harbour Multi Cultural School

This was a very fun mural that was completed in just 5 days time. I used images that the children from the school submitted to create the mural. This piece is plainly visible from the Queens Highway in Pacific Harbour Fiji. This is by far the busiest highway in all of the south pacific so within the time I was teaching in Fiji I became well known for the mural.

Sequaplin Mexico Mural

Another mural done with children this was a fun mural to do in a small community just north of Puerto Vallarta.

Floor Mural

This was the first mural that I have done on the ground. It was a challenge because the mural is viewed from such a different angle that perspective plays a factor in the creation of the piece.

Sidewalk Art

I have done a good deal of sidewalk art and have lead workshops teaching the art of creating sidewalk art.

Starbucks Mosquito Series

I have painted mosquito's in front of Starbucks coffee shops as a political statement.

Public Art

Poetry of the Wild

I was part of the Anna Flores Poetry of the Wild project. This project involved constructing small boxes and decorating them with the help of various arts organizations. We then placed these boxes in various public settings with a pencil and pad inside. We monitored the boxes and saved all of the poetry that was written in them and created a small coffee table book.

Giant Toaster Public Art Piece

I was the main designer and fabricator for creating 'Toast' for the Giant Toaster which is displayed at arts events and parks and is in parades of all types.

Peace Day Doves

I created a giant peace dove for Peace Day 2005, it was featured in a parade and then put on display at the Smokebrush Gallery and Foundation. In addition to creating this piece I facilitated a workshop with the community creating peace doves of all types and styles. These doves were placed in various public settings once they were completed.

Mandalas For Peace

The Mandalas For Peace project was very fun and was a new art form that I had to learn fast. We created a series of sand mandalas promoting peace and left them in public settings.
